The Royal Society: Trailblazing

The Royal Society, the national academy of science of the UK and the Commonwealth, has launched, Trailblazing, an online, interactive timeline launched to commemorate three and a half centuries of Royal Society publishing.

Trailblazing is a user-friendly, virtual journey through science. It showcases sixty articles selected from an archive of more than 60,000 articles published by the Royal Society between 1665 and 2010.

Elsevier and Cell Press: Article of the Future

Cell Press and Elsevier have launched a project called Article of the Future that is an ongoing collaboration with the scientific community to redefine how the scientific article is presented online. The project’s goal is to take full advantage of online capabilities, allowing readers individualized entry points and routes through the content, while using the latest advances in visualization techniques.

Scholarly Communication Road Show and Support for Authors Workshop

In conjunction with the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL), the libraries of Washington University along with its partners, the University of Missouri and Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, are pleased to host a free day-long workshop that covers scholarly communication and strategies for author support. There are two workshop sessions being offered:

Scholarly Communication 101: Starting with the Basics
Strategies for Author Support

The workshop sessions are appropriate for academic library staff with leadership assignments in scholarly communication as well as subject liaisons and others who are interested in learning more about author support strategies.

Customized Addendum for WU Authors Available

Are you an author and wish to retain certain rights to your journal article that are not expressly granted by the publisher? One right you may want to retain is to post the peer-reviewed version of your journal article on your laboratory website. Another right is to comply with the NIH Public Access Policy.

There is a customized addendum form available for WU authors that allows authors to select from certain groups of rights and generate a PDF that can be attached to a journal publisher’s copyright form. WU authors are not required to use this form.
