Collaborative Tools

There are a number of online network tools that offer collaborative tools to facilitate the sharing of ideas with the scientific community. Researchers can post, share or manage their research, or to connect with fellow researchers to find potential collaborators for a research project. Some tools allow researchers to import citations and share links to online resources to select groups, build online discussion groups, or create a portal highlighting their own research. Other features include creation of visualized authorship networks.

idR: Measuring and Mapping Interdisciplinary Research

idR offers overlay maps of science as a method to explore the degree of interdisciplinarity of a set of publications from Thomson Reuters Web of Science data or a Pajek vector file. The overlay technique visualizes the spread of publications over the global map of science, i.e. the structure of science as obtained from the analysis of cross-citations between disciplines.

Discovering Synergistic Qualities of Published Authors to Enhance Translational Research
