The 1000 Genomes Project

A new international genome sequencing project was launched today. The “1000 Genomes Project” will sequence the genomes of 1000 people to gain a better understanding of the regions of genetic variation, allowing researchers to get a better understanding of human disease.

Washington University scientists are playing a role in this effort and it will be exciting to see the results.
